IRS Health and Wellbeing at work

1st October 2008, Cavendish Conference Centre, London

Health and well being at work are moving higher up the agenda for HR, line managers and the board as evidence emerges of the impact of good practice on the bottom line. This conference will show how leading organisations are treating employee wellbeing as a strategic lever to boost competitiveness in the private companies and organisational effectiveness in the public sector.

A new impetus for employers to act was Dame Carol Black’s review of the health of Britain’s working age population, launched this year, calling for urgent, comprehensive reform and a new approach to health and work in Britain.
This conference will look at how the reforms will affect employers in the public and private sector, including a keynote talk from PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) who have published in-depth research for the government on the business case for investing in health at work.

The conference will include an update of the complex legal issues involved in managing health at work, including stress-related absence, disability discrimination  and managing incapacity.
Case studies from Unilever UK and Tameside Council will show how effective workplace health promotion are reducing staff turnover and boosting performance, and show how  that employers can offer more support to staff, including healthier lifestyle promotion.

Leading experts will discuss the link between health and wellbeing and  employee   productivity and engagement. Experts on health, nutrition and emotional well being will show how employers can develop a strategic approach to promoting and sustaining workplace health and well being, and prove that this is a sound business investment.
