Jo Causon is director, marketing and corporate affairs, at the Chartered Management Institute. Jo is responsible for the strategic development of the Institute’s brand and for building partnerships and networks that influence policy development and address the issues that matter to employers and individual managers. She has been Head of Group Marketing at City & Guilds where she delivered a strategy to reposition the corporate brand and their diverse portfolio of products and services. Before her three years at City & Guilds, Jo was Head of Brand at Norwich Union where she was responsible for developing both the corporate brand and supporting sub brands.
Stephen Taylor is a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management at the Manchester Metropolitan University Business School and a national examiner for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). He previously taught at Manchester Business School and worked in a variety of HR management roles in the hotel industry and in the NHS. He teaches courses in employment law, employee resourcing, employee relations and the business context at postgraduate and undergraduate level. Research interests include employee retention, occupational pensions and regulatory issues. He is the author / co-author of several books including four editions of 'People Resourcing', 'Employment Law: An Introduction' (with Astra Emir), 'The Employee Retention Handbook' and four editions of 'Human Resource Management' (with Derek Torrington and Laura Hall). A new book by Stephen entitled 'HRM: Contemporary Trends and Future Agendas' will be published in 2009. He regularly represents parties in employment tribunals.
Carole Grimwood is Assistant Director of Personnel for Hertfordshire County Council with responsibility for recruitment, HR information and planning and training and development. She has worked in local government HR for about 20 years and prior to that in the retail sector. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
Carole has a wide range of recruitment, development and more general personnel management experience. Most recently she has introduced a talent management strategy for the county council which includes a Leadership Academy to identify and develop people with high potential.
Dr Maria Yapp is CEO and founding director of Xancam, a leading firm of business psychologists. An acknowledged expert in the area of high potential assessment and development, she also works with clients to create commercially focused talent strategies. In 2007, She was voted one of HR’s Top 100 Most Influential
Tanja Kuveljic is managing director of b- live. She founded b-live in 2003 following 14 years in the careers publishing arena. Tanja’s previous appointment was as Business Director of Hobson’s PLC - subsidiary of Daily Mail and General Trust (DMGT). She has an extensive track record of publishing and commercial product development, including the successful development of a single careers magazine into a major brand and multi platform publishing business including magazine and directory publishing, direct mail, exhibitions & seminars and new media, strengthening the company’s position as the UK ’s number one in student recruitment during 1998 – 2002. Tanja provides consultancy in youth marketing and recruitment publishing to each customer and ensures that the overall operation is successful to provide a market leading experience.
Fiona Davidson is Resourcing Manager for telecoms giant O2UK. O2 hires around 3,500 employees a year, largely for its call centre and retail operations. Davidson has been involved with implementing a new method of performance based selection as well as a new online candidate management system. Last summer she oversaw the recruitment of more than 600 Sales Advisors in an eight-week period as O2 geared up for the launch of the Apple I-Phone. Before joining O2, Davidson worked for TDG Logistics as group recruitment manager, and Matalan Retail as head office recruitment manager.
