IRS Conference: Restructuring and Redundancy 2008
Working within the law, supporting employees and minimising disruption to the business

Day 2:  16 October 2008 Cavendish Conference Centre, London

Restructures and redundancies are on the rise as organizations try to cut costs to beat the global credit crunch and strive to keep shareholders happy in a highly competitive 21st Century.

Ensuring that HR departments get the legal aspect of restructures and redundancies right is extremely important, especially now as more and more cases of wrongful dismissal go to tribunal.  HR professionals must understand that something as small as the wording of a letter could lead to massive implications for an organization.

It is not only the law that can cause problems for organizations, restructures can also lead to massive losses in productivity as staff lose motivation due to the uncertainty of their futures. It is therefore very important that HR departments formulate strategies to support the remaining staff through the upheaval of a restructure and then motivate them to get back into work as soon as possible once the dust has settled.

This conference will explore the law on restructures and redundancies, communications with staff and other interested parties such as unions and best practice in supporting staff throughout and after the process.
