Gary Smith is a senior member of Watson Wyatt's DC (defined contribution) team and a member of the firm's DC Management Group. Gary's particular responsibilities include the strategy for, and development of, the firm's DC services, DC market positioning and marketing strategy as well as internal DC knowledge management. He has also shared responsibility for the firm's DC provider research activities.
Gary started out as a trainee actuarial consultant after leaving university in 1990 and worked for Bacon & Woodrow where he helped develop the firm’s DC capabilities, led on many major DC client projects and set up the firm’s specialist DC consulting team. In 1999, he joined Schroders with managerial responsibility to build and develop their DC business and was a director of both Schroder Pensions and Schroder Hermes. Gary joined Watson Wyatt at the beginning of 2004.
